Meredith man ordered to pay damages for tearing Confederate flag off pickup truck


MEREDITH — A Meredith man who tore down a Confederate flag has pleaded guilty to criminal mischief.

According to the Laconia Citizen, 20-year-old Nicholas Monty supposedly tore the flag down because he was offended by it. He was charged with taking the flag (valued at 200 dollars) from a Ford Ranger pickup truck belonging to David Morrill.

Monty was judged guilty, fined $310 and was ordered to pay restitution to the flag's owner who lives in Gilford.
