Rash of burglaries in Chesterfield show similarities
CHESTERFIELD - Police are investigating a rash of burglaries, saying they show a pattern -- daytime burglaries where the suspect or suspects get in and out very quickly and take easy-to-carry items like cash, jewelry and cameras.
Of the five recent burglaries reported, four happened during the day and during the week. Only one, at the Chesterfield Gorge, took place during the evening hours over the weekend, police said.
Police say it's unusual for the town to have this many burglaries in such a short time period and ask residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
The burglaries included a home on Route 63 near North Hinsdale Road sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Aug, 10, a home on North Shore Road near Route 63 in Spofford between 5 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. on Aug. 14, a home on Poor Road near Pond Brook Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. where someone kicked in a door on Aug. 18, a home on Route 63 near Winchester Road between 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity can call 911 or local dispatch at 355-2000. Tips or information pertaining to the cases should be directed to the main office at 363-4233, police said.
