Rajon Rondo can't commit to opening night for Boston Celtics

The Associated Press

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - Rajon Rondo isn't ready to commit to playing in the Boston Celtics' opener against the Brooklyn Nets.

Rondo says he will decide after he takes a pregame nap on Wednesday afternoon. The Celtics point guard has been out since slipping in the shower and breaking a bone in his hand near the start of training camp. He also missed 40 games last season recovering from reconstructive knee surgery.

Rondo joked on Monday that his health was back to 79 percent. On Tuesday he told coach Brad Stevens he was up to 83 percent.

Stevens says he's not messing around with percentages: If Rondo is ready to play, he will play.
