Radiothon held by The Pulse and The Hawk helps fund scholarships for Boys & Girls Club

CONCORD — A Radiothon seeking to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Central New Hampshire raised almost $5,000 before the event was even halfway over Friday.

107.7 The Pulse and 104.9 The Hawk teamed up to host the 12th annual Radiothon from 6 a.m.-5 p.m Banks Chevrolet Buick DMC in Concord.

Jim Holmes, director of the Boys & Girls Club of Central New Hampshire said as of 11 a.m., they had raised around $5,000, and that number is expected to grow as the day continues.

He said much of the funds raised at the event go toward funding the club's scholarship program.

"Our weekly fees are low as is, but a lot of our families still have some trouble affording those," Holmes said. "The funds that we raise from these types of events go to reduce the cost for the families that need it, so we're not turning anyone away."

Holmes said the Boys & Girls Club aims to admit any children who wish to join, regardless of financial status.

"Anyone ... where ever they are financially, can come to our clubs, which is kind of cool," Holmes said.
