Racers don high heels for Stiletto Sprint in Portsmouth today

PORTSMOUTH – Seacoast runners are donning their stilettos for the seventh annual Stiletto Sprint to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New Hampshire.

The race starts Saturday afternoon and involves both men and women who compete in a 40-yard dash wearing high heels.

“Lots of racers come in costume,” said Alyssa Salmon, director of communications. “We even have heels in case you don’t have your own.” Salmon said the race has grown year after year.

Participants must be 18 years of age and older. All heel heights are welcome but only those participants wearing non-wedge heels two inches and higher will be eligible to win.

The competition begins at 4 p.m. on Pleasant Street.
