Rabid fox attacks dogs in Plaistow

PLAISTOW - A likely rabid fox attacked several dogs this week.

The attacks took place in the area of Shannon Lane, Old County Road and Main Street, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Police were called and the fox was shot and sent for rabies testing.

Plaistow Animal Control Officer Matt Hay said he hadn't received confirmation from state Fish and Game officials that the fox tested positive for rabies, but thinks the animal acted as if it had rabies.

Plaistow police said residents who see a wild animal acting outside the norm should call them at 382-1200.

Dogs involved in the incidents had their rabies shots.
