Public health director stepping down from Department of Health and Human Services
New Hampshire's public health director is stepping down after seven years in that position.
Dr. Jose Montero announced Thursday that he is leaving the Department of Health and Human Services.
"I am honored and privileged for having had the opportunity to serve as Director of the Division of Public Health Services at the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services since April 2008," Montero wrote in his resignation letter. "As I look at all the change and all the progress achieved, I have come to realize, that it is the perfect time for me to move on and allow new leadership to come in and help DPHS to fully achieve the goals of becoming not only a high quality and high performance entity but an accredited one."
He has been with DHHS for 15 years. His last day is May 1.
