Protect your home from propane

After seeing the images of the Foster's home in Danville, the question, "How can I avoid such a dangerous scene at my own home?"

If your home runs on propane you should already have a detector installed but if not just knowing what propane smells like could save your house.

If it smells like rotten eggs call your propane provider to come look at the tank or you can call your local fire department.

Danville Fire Chief, Steve Woirkun said, "If they smell gas, first thing is get out of the residence and call us. We're able to ascertain if there is a gas leak in the house. We have gas meters that will pick up all propane gas etcetera."

Fire Marshall, John Southwell said the Fosters smelled an odor and even called the company which sent someone back out to inspect the tank. The company's name has yet to be released but that is included as a part of their investigation.
