Prosecutors drop some charges against Atkinson couple accused of growing pot

The Associated Press

PLAISTOW (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped some charges against a New Hampshire couple accused of growing marijuana in their home.

Robert Zdrada, 65, and his wife, Valerie Zdrada, 60, were arrested in October after police say they found seven and a half pounds of marijuana and other items used to grow the plants indoors.

The Atkinson couple had pleaded not guilty to cultivating, possessing and intending to distribute marijuana.

WMUR-TV reports prosecutors dropped all charges against Valerie Zdrada and a charge that Robert was planning to sell the marijuana.

Their attorney has said the drug was intended to ease the pain of Robert Zdrada, who has cancer.
