Possible roadblock for proposed Epping medical marijuana dispensary

EPPING - A proposed zoning ordinance could cut off the possibility of a medical marijuana dispensary in Epping. The project manager says it seems like the town is doing whatever it can to keep a dispensary out.

The proposed ordinance states the facility could be no more than 300 feet from the property line to be sure it would not appear to be hidden from view.

The site a group is looking at on Beede Hill Road is 500 feet from the line.

Project manager Dennis Acton is a cancer survivor and saw success with medical marijuana.

"It was a long process but in the end the bill that was passed into law is a good one considering. We're hoping that we can get it implemented but we do, we are encountering a variety of problems," Acton said.

A public hearing on the ordinance will be held at the planning board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8.
