Portsmouth School District under scrutiny for 'graphic images' on server
PORTSMOUTH — A former School Department IT worker allegedly had graphic images saved on the school's server for over a year before he was arrested for assaulting a minor in 2013.
Kenneth Kimber, 35, is currently serving eight years in the state prison for raping a minor he met through the job. There have been allegations that the IT department themselves are partly to blame, considering the pictures were on the server prior to Kimber's arrest.
In prior court filings, Thomas Lotz, the school's network administrator, is quoted saying that after Kimber's arrest, he searched the school's computer systems and found a folder "containing inappropriate images of individuals in various states of undress" on the school's server. The folder was labeled "YEP," Lotz said, adding he did not know when the filed was created, according to seacoastonline.com.
The school is under scrutiny for its poor surveillance in regards to their computer network.
The school district fired Kimber when he pleaded guilty to the charges in 2013.
