Portsmouth rally against Keystone XL pipeline

PORTSMOUTH- More than 50 people attended a rally in Portsmouth to show their opposition of the Keystone XL pipeline. 350NH and 350Maine organized the rally, they say they're disappointed with the Senate decision to move the pipeline forward, but they're relieved President Obama has indicated he would veto the bill.

This group aims to block the further construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline has been opposed by environmental groups across the country who are concerned with the risk of spills along sensitive terrain and how it could affect the environment.

The NH group is particularly concerned with an existing pipeline that runs from Montreal through parts of northern New Hampshire and Maine. They say they're dedicated to resisting the shipment of tar sands oil through that pipeline.

Demonstrations like the one here are happening all across the country Tuesday. This was the only one in New Hampshire.
