Portsmouth police pursuit ends in crash

PORTSMOUTH - N.H. State Police arrested an Epping man whose car hit a telephone pole after he refused to stop for them Saturday night.

State police say they responded to a report of a possible impaired driver who left the N.H. State Liquor Store located at the Portsmouth traffic circle.

The police tried to stop the operator, Joshua St. Laurent, 26. St. Laurent refused to stop and police pursued.

St. Laurent allegedly lost control of the vehicle, colliding into a telephone pole and an unoccupied parked car on Middle Street. Police say St. Laurent was taken into custody and transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

He was charged with aggravated DUI and disobeying a police officer.
