Portsmouth mother charged with DWI after leaving school without her child


PORTSMOUTH - The mother of an elementary school child has been charged with drunken driving, and police say they found a plastic cup with vodka in the car when they pulled her over.

According to seacoastonline.com, the mother's behavior was reported to police by someone at the school after she left the school without her child, appearing intoxicated.

Janine Clarke, 44, of 42 Cutts St., was charged with DWI and with having an open container of alcohol in the car. Police got help from witnesses to locate her and pulled her over near Leslie Drive, according to Acting Deputy Police Chief Frank Warchol.

Following her arrest, she was released on $700 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the Portsmouth District Court on March 7.
