PORTSMOUTH - The Portsmouth School Board is discussing starting classes later as soon as the start of the next school year.

According to seacoastonline.com, Superintendent Steve Zadravec says the School Board could decide as early as Tuesday night’s meeting whether to approve a proposal to start school an hour later at the middle and high schools.

Zadravec said that the proposal is being considered due to research that shows middle and high school students do better when they start school later in the day.

He also said it’s certain possible that they implement the proposal as soon as the start of the new school year in 2016.
