Portsmouth hosts first-ever regional conference on aging

PORTSMOUTH- Portsmouth hosted a regional gathering of leaders from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont to discuss the aging population.

More than one hundred service providers, aging advocates, and lawmakers came together to share ideas to help older adults age with independence and support in their communities. The goal is to form partnerships across state borders. Organizers say these three states have the highest median age in the country and face similar challenges when it comes to caring for our older population.

Issues discussed at the vent include: health, transportation, housing, community supports.

Organizers say if successful, the regional partnership could become a national model.
