Portsmouth Gas Light Co. expected to reopen soon after December fire torched restaurant


PORTSMOUTH - Portsmouth restaurant the Gas Light Co. is expected to reopen around the end of May to beginning of June after a December fire left the restaurant inoperable.

According to seacoastonline.com, restaurant owner Paul Sorli said that repairs have yet to start, but a permit has finally been pulled to begin work on the restaurant's roof at 64 Market St. this week.

Sorli also told the paper that after the restaurant's insurance company had evaluated the scope of the damage to plan repairs, that inspectors now have a reconstruction plan that includes, new plumbing, electrical, sprinkler and alarm systems.

The construction manager expects to have a schedule for rebuilding within the next two weeks.
