PORTSMOUTH - The weather cooperated for First Night activities, with an ice sculpture, dancing, fireworks and a countdown to midnight drawing crowds to downtown.
Youngsters bundled up in winter coats had no trouble staying warm on the streets as they boogied to the music.
One young trio of partiers lit up Market Square with glow sticks shaped into a colorful mask and their unmatched energy.
Brayden, Kylen and Connor have made First Night an annual tradition since they were born, one family member said.
Meanwhile others venturing downtown were willing to share their resolutions for the New Year -- many involving healthier eating and spending time with loved ones.
"I'm looking forward to making a point of spending a lot more time with my family and my friends and enjoying every moment I can," said one woman.
