Portsmouth animal shelter renovation charity will feature on Animal Planet special

PORTSMOUTH — Project Pawsitive, a local not-for-profit that renovates dated animal shelters, will be featured in a two-part Animal Planet special called "Pet Nation Renovation" on Saturday.

The television program, hosted by animal expert Dave Salmoni, will feature Project Pawsitive's founder, Jill Sullivan, its project manager, Drew Davis and general contractor Lance Powers.

The episodes, which have been previously taped, will follow them as they renovate two area shelters.

Sullivan appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel LIVE" earlier this month to promote the special where she said she was approached by Animal Planet after they learned of dramatic renovations Project Pawsitive had already completed around New England.

“We’ve found that deserving shelters and rescue organizations are rightfully putting every penny they have into the care of the animals and the physical structures deteriorate significantly," said Sullivan.

She said that the work her organization does helps with needed repairs and results in better environments as well as higher adoption rates.
