Popular bagel shop burns in four-alarm in downtown Newburyport, Mass.

NEWBURYPORT, Mass.- A popular bagel and pizza shop was heavily damaged during four-alarm fire on Liberty Street early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at 4:15 a.m. to Abraham's Bagels and Pizza where heavy flames were visible and the fire had spread through the interior, according to the Newburyport fire department.

One firefighter was evaluated for heat-related illness, but no other injuries were reported.

The building sustained heat, smoke, and water damage, and the outdoor eating area was severely damaged. The bagel shop and law office above will be unusable until repairs are made.

Fire crews from Amesbury, Merrimac, Newbury, Rowley, Salisbury, West Newbury, Exeter, N.H., Kensington, N.H., Portsmouth, N.H., Rye, N.H., and Seabrook, N.H. responded to the scene.
