Poll: NH residents feel better about finances, not US economy

The Associated Press

DURHAM — A new poll shows N.H. residents feel they are better off financially than they were a year ago, but they're not as optimistic about the national economy.

The findings are based on the latest Business and Industry Association Report on Consumer Confidence, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

Forty-two percent say they are better off now than they were a year ago; 27 percent say they are worse off; 31 percent say things haven't changed.

Regarding the U.S. economy, 35 percent of residents think that businesses are in for good times; 35 percent think businesses will have bad times; 29 percent think conditions will be mixed.

The telephone poll of 567 adults had a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
