Police: Woman tried to buy hitman, arrested in Keene after murder-for-hire sting
KEENE - A woman was arrested Monday after police said she tried to hire someone to kill an estranged boyfriend.
Police started investigating Kerri Reason, 25, on Saturday after there had been reports that she asked someone to commit a murder for her.
She was trying to have 27-year old Timothy Stricker, of Swanzey, killed and the two were involved in an estranged relationship, according to police.
Reason met with the person she was soliciting to commit murder - who was cooperating with this investigation - while she was under surveillance Saturday.
Police took her into custody without incident.
Reason is charged with one count of criminal solicitation/murder, a felony offense.
Police said she agreed to pay $5,000 in exchange for Stricker's murder.
Reason was arraigned Monday and cash bail was set at $500,000.
The case remains under investigation.
