Police: Woman stabbed, pushed man down stairs in Manchester after argument over pills


MANCHESTER - An argument over prescription medicine led to the arrest of a woman after police say she stabbed a man in her Manchester apartment.

The 44-year-old victim told police stated he was stabbed by Tara Carter, 47 of Manchester, while he was visiting her Douglas Street apartment.

He said he placed his prescription bottle of Valium on the kitchen table before using the restroom, and when he returned it was gone.

When the victim said he confronted her, she push him down to the ground, stabbed him and later pushed him down the stairs

Police arrived on scene as he was exited the apartment, and he was treated at a local hospital for a “superficial” stab wound.

Carter initially refused to open the door when the police arrived, and she was charged with first-degree assault, reckless conduct and resisting detention/arrest.

She was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
