Police: Woman drove away after hitting, severely injuring 4-year-old trick-or-treater

The Associated Press

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 4-year-old boy was severely injured after he was hit by a car while trick-or-treating in Lowell.

Police say the child was walking with his mother and other children around 7:20 p.m. Monday when a Lowell woman hit him. Police spokesman Timothy Crowley says the woman continued to drive a short distance, exited the vehicle, then got back inside and drove away.

The boy was hospitalized with injuries not considered life threatening.

Police say they located the driver 15 minutes after the incident. Crowley says charges are impending.
