Police: Troy admin. may have used town funds to pay utility bills

TROY - A town administrator in Troy is accused of stealing money from the town and using it to pay her utility bills and for other rental properties.

Cynthia Satas, 62, of Troy, has not yet been cited by police - but State Police Trooper Sean Eaton said charges are likely forthcoming.

Police said they initiated an investigation with Troy Police on October 24 after receiving information that a Town of Troy employee may have been involved in a theft or misappropriation of town funds.

The tip, state police said, was received from a source outside the Town of Troy.

Satas is the Town Welfare Administrator and Administrative Assistant to the Selectboard in Troy.

Police say the allegation claims Satas may have been using town funds to pay utility bills for her home, as well as for several rental properties she owns in Troy and Peterborough, NH.

State Police executed search warrants at Satas' home and the Troy Town Hall on Tuesday.

Police acquired several file boxes and two computers during the search.

The investigation is still continuing.
