Police track suspected hit-and-run driver after two crashes in Manchester

MANCHESTER - A Derry man is under arrest after police say he hit another car, crashed again a short distance later and fled the scene on foot, leaving an injured passenger behind.

Police say they got a report of the first crash around 2 a.m. near Webster Street and Hooksett Road. The driver of the other car was not injured but the vehicle was damaged.

Moments later a single-vehicle crash was reported at Red Coat Lane and Shaw Road, with the driver leaving on foot and a passenger left behind. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Darren Chinn, 53, of Derry, was arrested after police used a K-9 to track him across the Manchester/Hooksett town line and got help from Hooksett police in making the arrest.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
