Police: Toddler's death ruled a homicide, father has history of violence

CONCORD — Police are continuing the investigation into the death of a toddler and are now saying the father was abusive and has a history of violence.

Jocarl Bureau, 22, is the father of the now deceased 3-year-old Jayleah. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Court papers show the father is accused of choking, striking and threatening the child's mother, Loreal Williams, with a gun.

No arrests have been made at this time in connection with Jayleah's death.

Jocarl was arrested on assault charges and has been in prison since April. He is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on Oct. 18
