Police: Threat with shotgun led to Laconia SWAT situation, officials still searching for suspect

LACONIA - Police have issued a warrant for a man accused of threatening another man with a shotgun Tuesday, prompting an area lock down.

Robert Audette, 26, faces charges for criminal threatening and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police and SWAT teams surrounded 20 Jewett St. Tuesday, after a 911 call reported a man had been making threats with a weapon.

Officers called for residents to evacuate the building, but it was later determined that Audette was not in the home.

"The people in the area weren't too sure but prior to our arrival but they believed he was still inside," said Laconia Police Captain William Clary.

Officers seized the shotgun allegedly used in the incident, as well as ammunition and drug paraphernalia, police said. The gun was not registered to Audette, police said.

Neighbors told NH1 News Audette had been staying in the building, but was not a resident.

Police are investigating and trying to locate Audette, who they said has no fixed address.

The public is being warned that Audette could be armed.

Do not approach him, call 911, police said.
