Police: Suspicious death investigation underway in Durham

DURHAM — The N.H. Attorney General's Office, along with state and local police, are investigating the suspicious death of a 22-year-old man early Saturday morning.

Police said they responded to a 9-1-1 call for a disturbance at 18 Edgewood Rd. at about 1 a.m., where they found a deceased man they identified as Michael Barrett, of Dover.

Officials said an autopsy will be performed Sunday to determine the exact cause and manner of Barrett's death.

Officials said they believe they have identified all of the parties involved in this incident and therefore do not believe that there is a current danger to the public. They said they are also investigating whether this incident involved the use of self-defense.

Barrett was involved in a 2015 automobile accident in Rye, where he was left in the middle of the road by the driver of the vehicle after sustaining serious injuries.
