Police: Suspect who fled crash scene hit K-9 who caught him in Epsom

EPSOM — A K-9 was struck by a suspect who fled from the Pittsfield Police Department on Saturday.

The K-9, Casper, and Tr. Anthony Cattabriga responded to Epsom to assist the Pittsfield Police Department in locating a wanted individual who fled on foot from a motor vehicle crash on Route 4 at about 2 a.m.

Casper was able to locate and apprehend the suspect after a thorough search of the thickly wooded area. The suspect hit Casper while being apprehended, but the K-9 is said to be safe and healthy by police.

The suspect was charged with resisting detention and maiming a police dog, along with several additional charges from the Pittsfield Police Department.
