Police spot Manchester man talking on phone while driving, find drugs

MANCHESTER- Police pulled over a man for motor vehicle violations Monday, including talking on a cell phone, and got more than they bargained for.

Police say they pulled over Donald Janes, 52, of Hazen Drive in Bedford near the area of Wilson Street and Lake Avenue when they saw him commit the violations. When the officer at the scene was talking to Janes , they noticed drug packaging material in plain view inside of the pickup truck he was driving.

Janes admitted to the officer that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day, and allowed the officer to search the truck, where the officer found a plastic bag containing crack cocaine and another plastic bag containing marijuana.

James is scheduled to be arraigned today in the 9th circuit court in Manchester on two charges of possession of a controlled drug, one a felony and one a misdemeanor.
