Police seek ID of man trying to pass fake $20 at Concord McDonald's

CONCORD - An unidentified man passed a fake $20 bill he pulled from a wad of cash at a local McDonald's restaurant March 15.

Police have released surveillance photos of the incident and are asking the public for its help identifying the man and two of his friends.

According to police, three men walked into the restaurant at about 8 p.m. One ordered some food, took out a $100 bill out to pay for it and then handed the cashier a $20 bill instead. The cashier checked the $20 with a counterfeit detector pen, which showed the bill was counterfeit. The man then asked the cashier to return the bill and she called police.

The three men got into a gold 2014 Subaru Forester and left. Video shows the man talking before entering the restaurant while one of the men looks through a large stack of money.
