Police searching for driver who hit bicyclist on Union Street in Laconia on Monday

LACONIA - Police are looking for a driver who hit a bicyclist on Monday morning on Union Avenue near the Dairy Queen.

Police say the man on the bicycle was thrown to the ground while heading south, against traffic on Union Avenue around 10 a.m. The driver failed to stop. The bicyclist said the suspect was driving a black SUV.

According to police, the bicyclist was able to get home where he called 911 reporting minor injuries. He was transported by the Laconia Fire Department to Lakes Region General Hospital for evaluation.
