Police say suspected driver in fatal Newmarket hit-and-run accident has died


NEWMARKET – The man who police say killed an elderly man in a hit-and-run accident last month has died.

Peter Wallace, 44, was rushed to Exeter Hospital about 90 minutes after the accident that killed Charles Dearborn.

According to the Union Leader, Wallace was placed on life support and remained at Exeter Hospital until his death Friday.

Wallace’s death is still under investigation.

Emergency personnel were called to Wallace’s home shortly after the accident, where a black Volvo with front-end damage, matching a witness’ account, was found.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by State police.
