Police say NH man attempted to assault officer after DWI arrest

WOLFBORO — After police arrested a New Hampshire man for driving while intoxicated, he allegedly attempted to assault the officer from the back of the cruiser.

According to police, Michael L Millington Sr., 34 of Ossipee, was stopped for a motor vehicle infraction when police suspected that he was under the influence.

After a short investigation, police conducted field sobriety tests and Millington was subsequently placed under arrest.

Police said while they were speaking to Millington at the rear of the cruiser, he attempted to grab one of the officers.

Millington was transported to the Carroll County Jail where police said he threatened to harm another officer.

According to police, Millington is facing the following charges: DWI, assault on a police officer, criminal threatening, operating without ignition interlock device and possession of more than one valid license.

Millington is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 2.
