BELMONT – A Laconia man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a home while the resident was on the phone with police.

According to Belmont Police, a resident on Jamestown Road called police Tuesday afternoon with a report of an unknown man on the property knocking at the door.

The man then walked around the house, opened a window and crawled through into the home.

The suspect saw the resident and ran outside into a sedan.

Police were dispatched and quickly caught up to the car and arrested Steven Belanger, 30 of Laconia.

Belanger was charged with operating a motor vehicle after suspension, misuse of registration plates and burglary.
