Police say footprints in snow led them to alleged robber in Rochester

ROCHESTER - A man has been arrested after police say they followed his footprints in the snow following a convenience store robbery.

Zachary R Robinson, 22, who had been staying at a nearby motel, is charged with robbery, a class B felony.

Police responded to the Irving Circle K on Gonic Road after a store clerk said she had been robbed, threatened and assaulted by a man.

The clerk provided a description and said the man fled on foot, police said.

When officers arrived they found fresh shoe impressions in the snow. They followed the impressions into a wooded area not far from the store where they found Robinson, who matched the description of the suspect. Police said they found items stolen from the store on Robinson.

The clerk was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

Robinson is being held on $25,000 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Rochester district court.

Anyone with information can call the Rochester Police Department at 330-7127 or the Crimeline at 335-6500.
