Police say ex-felon found with gun, heroin
ROCHESTER - An ex-felon faces new charges after police say they found him with heroin and a gun on July 12.
Police were investigating a possible DWI and stopped a car that had crossed the yellow line on North Main St.
Though driver Anthony Cook, 25, of 8 Cove Court, was not found to be driving under the influence, police say they did find a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia in the car. Police say a search of Cook at the station found he was carrying more than 10 grams of heroin. He was also driving with a suspended license, police said.
Because of Cook's prior record of felony convictions for drug possession and burglary, it is illegal for him to have a handgun.
Cook was charged with being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
