Police say 2 children under age 5 in New England apartment with 33 grams of heroin inside
LOWELL, Mass. — Two young children were present when police searched an apartment Monday night and arrested a man on multiple drug distribution charges.
Lowell police said they executed a search warrant for the second-floor apartment at 75 Smith St. after an investigation into illegal drug distribution from this address.
Police said they found three "fingers" of what they believed to be heroin that weighed over 33 grams, a "finger" press, $3,345 in cash, a single bag of suspected cocaine and records and paraphernalia indicting that Kevin Davidson, 31, was running a significant heroin distribution operation.
At the time of their search, police said two children ages 2 and 5 were present. The Department of Children and Families was notified, and an investigation is underway.
Davidson was charged with trafficking in heroin, trafficking heroin in a school zone and unlawful possession of Class B cocaine, along with a 2012 default warrant for motor vehicle charges.
Davidson was scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday.
