Police: Sanbornton man violently choked, punched, beat and threw pit bull over stone wall

SANBORNTON — A man is in custody after police said he violently beat a pit bull.

The officers said multiple witnesses told them they saw Richard Glover, 45 of Sanbornton, choke and punch the dog then throw it over a stone wall after hitting it with a stick.

A witness told police that Glover was angry that the dog left its yard and lifted the dog by its choke collar and punched it in the head with a closed fist.

Then the dog was hit with a stick and thrown over a stone wall.

The dog was released to its owner. Glover was charged with cruelty to animals later in the evening.

Glover was found hiding under a bed in his home when police delivered the arrest warrant.

He was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and will appear in court on July 11.
