Police: Rochester man arrested for dealing lethal dose of fentanyl

ROCHESTER — A Rochester man has been arrested for dealing fentanyl that caused an overdose death, police said.

Police conducted an investigation after an overdosed death occurred on June 24 at the Northgate Apartment complex in Rochester. It was determined through the investigation that the death occurred from a lethal dose of fentanyl, and it is alleged that Ryan Kirk, 27, supplied this drug to the victim.

A warrant was issued on Sept. 28 for Kirk. He was located by police coming out of a home on Charles Street on Oct. 9 after receiving information from the public about drug dealing. Police attempted to take Kirk into custody, but he ran away and was later apprehended following a foot pursuit on Sheridan Avenue, police said.

Kirk was held on no bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11.
