Police release details about crash that closed I-93

LONDONDERRY - Police have released additional details and the names of those involved in an accident on Friday afternoon that closed Interstate 93 during a busy travel time.

According to police, Tyler Haynes, 24, of Manchester, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix south on I-93 when he failed to yield to traffic while exiting the breakdown lane and trying to cross several lanes.

Santiago Flores, 58, of Everett MA, was traveling in the same direction in a Toyota Prius when he struck the Pontiac broadside as it attempted to cross both lanes of travel.

Both vehicles and came to rest in the wood line of the center median. Police temporarily closed the highway to allow a helicopter to land to take Haynes to Boston Medical Center with what police say were serious injuries.

Flores and both passengers in his vehicle were taken to the Elliot Hospital also with serious injuries, police said

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Trooper Melanie Locke of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B at 603-223-4381.
