Police: Portsmouth restaurant worker, young father dead after suspected heroin overdose
PORTSMOUTH – Joseph Cahill, 27, died of a suspected heroin overdose on Monday, according to police.
Portsmouth police responded to reports of screaming coming from the Gosling Meadows neighborhood early Monday morning.
When police arrived they found Cahill unconscious and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Cahill was a young father and worked at a Portsmouth restaurant, according to an obituary posted Monday on lucaseatonfuneralhome.com.
The Portsmouth Police Department and medical examiner are investigating Cahill’s death as a heroin overdose.
