Police: Pedestrian hit on NH Route 4 in Durham, investigation continues

DURHAM — Police responded to Route 4 by Arthur Grant Circle in Durham for a pedestrian who had been struck.

Richard M. Davies, 22 of Texas, was struck at about 4 a.m. while standing in the westbound lane of Route 4.

Davies was struck by a 2013 Ford E-350 van driven by Jason M. Poulin, 44 of North Waterboro, Maine.

Davies was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries. He is stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The incident is under investigation by the Durham Police Department and the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Unit.
