SHELBURNE (AP) — A 65-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a car that was backing out of a driveway in Shelburne.
Police said Doreen Kukene of Shelburne was struck by the vehicle in front of North Road around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities said the driver hit Kukene as she was walking along the roadway.
Kukene was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, where she later died of her injuries.
Police said drugs and alcohol don't appear to be factors in the crash. Authorities are investigating.
