Police: NH teen saves man getting beat with baseball bat by masked assailant

MANCHESTER — A masked man beat a man on the porch of a Manchester apartment until a 16-year-old was able to take the weapon from him, police said.

Manchester police said two adult victims were seated on the back porch when a man wearing a black ski mask armed with a baseball bat approached them at about 1:15 a.m.

The assailant repeatedly struck the 41-year-old man with the bat. The 41-year-old woman intervened but couldn't stop the attack, police said.

Police said the beating continued until a 16-year-old boy was able to take the bat. The suspect fled after.

The man sustained several injuries to his head, face and back. The female sustained an injury to her head. Both refused medical treatment.

The teen suffered injuries to his wrist and hand and was treated a a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was on foot after fleeing the scene. He was wearing a blue shirt.

Police said the assault does not appear to be random. The investigation is ongoing.
