Police: Newmarket man used pitchfork to threaten neighbors, assaulted NH officer

NEWMARKET — A man has been arrested after he allegedly wielded a pitch fork at his neighbors and then barricaded himself in his home Thursday morning at about 7:19 a.m. at Turkey Ridge.

Brian Cross, 58, eventually came out of his home but when officers attempted to arrest him, they said he became violent and assaulted a NH State Trooper.

Cross is being charged with three counts of criminal threatening and one count of resisting arrest.

He is being held on $20,000 cash bail pending arraignment later this afternoon.

Police say his wife Hilary, 53, interfered with the police when they attempted to arrest her husband.

She was arrested and is being charged with resisting arrest and possession of a controlled drug.

She was released on $1,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 3.
