Police: Nashua man arrested on animal cruelty charges for drowning woman's bearded lizards


NASHUA – Richard Waite, 26, was arrested Sunday after allegedly drowning two bearded dragon lizards.

Waite is accused of purposefully drowning the lizards belonging to a woman he knows. Police said Waite also released her Parakeet and damaged some of her personal property.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty, criminal threatening, four counts of criminal mischief and theft.

He could face up to seven years in NH State prison for each animal cruelty charge.

Waite is currently being held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections.
