Police: Mother dies with child in car after drunken driver hits her head-on in Lebanon

LEBANON — A mother is dead after a drunken driving crash on Interstate 89, police said.

N.H. State Police responded to a car crash on I-89 south near Exit 20 on Wednesday night after reports of a head-on collision.

A 2009 Subaru Legacy driven by Daniel Cowdrey, 38, crashed into a 2015 Nissan Versa operated by Ellynn Koelsch, 34. Koelsch had a 4-year-old child in the car with her.

Koelsch died on the scene.

Cowdrey suffered minor injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he was arrested and charged with felony aggravated DUI. The 4-year-old was also transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock with serious injuries.
