Police: Merrimack woman set up fradulent GoFundMe with fake pictures of 'injured' son

MERRIMACK - A woman - who police say edited images of what appeared to be her injured son on a GoFundMe page to help her gain full custody - has been arrested.

Taylor Tibbetts, 20, of Merrimack, told police on Nov. 11 of last year that her 3-year-old son was being abused by his father. A GoFundMe page asking for money to help her hire an attorney and attempt to get full custody of her son soon appeared online. The page included pictures that were purportedly of her injured son.

Derry police investigated the images, and believe them to be Photoshopped. Merrimack police continued the investigation, and were granted a warrant to arrest Tibbetts for false report to law enforcement.

Tibbetts turned herself in on Sunday, and was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail.

She is scheduled to appear in court in May.
